Senior DevOps Engineer

 

The Senior DevOps Engineer - Tech Lead is responsible for continually advancing the technology and transforming Enterprise IT from traditional, proprietary tools and technologies to cloud-based platforms and services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Own significant process areas (PI planning, recruiting, and hiring) to ensure the success of the DevOps team. 

  • Define and automate release train pipelines and environments, build resilient systems that work to create repeatable processes

  • Own the creation of Service Level Objectives to measure and manage core infrastructure and critical services

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of Infrastructure As Code (IAC)

  • Lead IAC automation and practices to ensure repeatability, consistency and portability

  • Develop CI/CD pipeline configurations to orchestrate provisioning and deployment of both large and small-scale systems

  • Collaborate with senior management and other peers for strategy development and execution

  • Be the escalation point for break/fix incidents; work with engineers to define the best technical path forward for any given problem.

  • Promote adherence to Information Security, Regulatory Compliance, Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management processes/practices

  • Investigate, analyse and make recommendations regarding technology improvements, development best practices, standardisation, scaling, upgrades, and modifications to our infrastructure and services

  • Champion Site Reliability Engineering practices across the organisation

  • Effective communicator across broad audiences and stakeholders

  • Conducts stand-up meetings 



Qualifications

  • 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience; or equivalent experience

  • 2 + years of people management experience 


Technical Skills

  • Broad and extensive proficiency in technology architectures, strategies, methodologies, processes and tools

  • Ability to explore and recommend technology investment with a focus on the business’s ROI

  • Direct experience in selecting, implementing and maintaining key industry technology solutions

  • Must have experience developing program plans, roadmaps, and estimations, including projects

  • Experience in systems configuration management with automation tools 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate the team to deliver multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines

  • The ability to think critically and to collaborate effectively outside of own team remits

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and Software Development Life Cycle

  • Promote Product and Enterprise Operations culture and values
