Junior DevOps Engineer

Summary Description

The Junior DevOps Engineer is responsible for maintaining the technology and transforming Enterprise IT from traditional, proprietary tools and technologies to cloud-based platforms and services.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintains a secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure

  • Actively participates in team meetings, providing accurate and complete status updates.

  • Effectively share work being accomplished via standup.

  • Define, implement, and manage infrastructure to support the platform.

  • Administer Docker images in Kubernetes clusters.

  • Review and manage security of deployment using a least privilege approach to security.

  • Maintain and monitor our cloud infrastructure and optimise for performance, and cost.

  • Work closely with engineers in a DevOps model to support the full application lifecycle.

  • Relentlessly drive towards an automated, software defined cloud platform using tools such as CloudFormation.


  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or a Master’s degree or a PhD without experience

  • Experience with at least one programming or scripting language (Python, Javascript, C#, Java, etc.)

  • Experience with high scale, high performance web application platforms desired

  • Experience with CI/CD development processes and pipelines

  • Understanding of infrastructure and information security best practices

  • Ability to troubleshoot and fix infrastructure issues with limited supervision

  • Strong communications skills 

  • Experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes and Github Enterprise

  • Experience with relational databases such as MS SQL or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB

  • Experience with best practices cloud infrastructure
